A GREAT BIG THANK YOU TO MY READERS....YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE
Hi everybody just thought I would take this opportunity to say thanks to everybody who has came over and looked at my blog page. This is a labour of love, I get turned on by turning you guys on to GREAT music. Back in the olden days we had PUNK ZINES like SNIFFIN GLUE. Which were great..... Now weve got the internet which is great too, but sometimes its so hard to find, real content. Thats why I decided to do this. I just hope it helps. I remember when I was younger it was so much more difficult to find info about music. I hope you dont mind the ADS on the page. I use the AMAZON ADS because they are the only ones available to me. Although AMAZON are pretty good, and I do use them myself. some great reviews on there. I would like this page to develop into a kinda PUNK ZINE kinda thingy. Im not sure if the title is the right one for the blog. If you have some weird and wacky name let me know. Just comment and keep it fun and together we can keep music ALIVE. God how I detest the X factor.

1977 THE FILTH AND THE FURY
I remember back in the summer of 1977 a mate of mine dragged me off to manchester uk, for a night out. little did I know. That I would witness a life changing event. We caught the 192 bus into the centre of the city, nothing new about that, this was my city, my playground. I remember walking down oldham road and all these PUNKS were all going in the same direction. We finally got to our destination a grubby little club in collyhurst, mega rough, windows boarded up, and dog shit everywhere. Great, anyway there was a massive Q to get inside this hole. Inside it was packed and the DJ was pumping out THE STOOGES, NEW YORK DOLLS, SEX PISTOLS, THE RAMONES, it was brilliant. The first group on were SUBWAY SECT. They were great, a blast of fresh air, I just loved how shambolic they were, and how badly they played their instruments and sang outa tune, nobody else seemed to notice them. But I thought they were great. Next up were the SLITS, wow I fell in love with PUNK, there and then. I didnt think they were as good as SUBWAY SECT. But boy oh boy did they have sex appeal and buckets of attitude it was great. By this time it was really sweaty and roasting hot, and the atmosphere was ELECTRIC. I guess thats why it was called the electric circus, full of freaks, looking for kicks in the dark underbelly of the city. The next and final group on were...... THE CLASH by now we were at the front of the stage, within spitting distance, and everyone was spitting, it was gross. I think they started with WHITE RIOT, and the whole place just exploded, everybody was pogoing it was throbbing. Up to this point the night had been a real eye opener, now it all made sense this was music for kids like me. This was culture, our culture, this belonged to us. Sure it couldnt last, but it was here, and it was now, and it felt so good. If I had to list the best gig I ever went to, this was it. THE CLASH delivered. MUSIC. IMAGE. MESSAGE. If you dont have any music by by these 3 artists quite simply. Sorry to say this, but your music collection, just aint up to scratch.

BOB DYLAN DESIRE
Hi I just had to add the you tube cover of Hurricane. It is my favourite cover Ive ever seen of the great man. The great thing about it is the fact, these are just two normal guys havin fun. DESIRE is one of my fave DYLAN albums. Trying to pick the best BOB DYLAN album is not possible anyway. he is too enigmatic for that. Sometimes this is my fave and other times its NASHVILLE SKYLINE othertimes its BLONDE ON BLONDE or even JOHN WESLEY HARDING. All I know is that DYLAN is one of the best singer, songwriters of all time, and his work needs studying in greater depth. He never ceases to amaze me. Read more reviews, buy any of these three albums. YOU wont be dissapointed
I AM A BIRD NOW...ANTHONY AND THE JOHNSONS
I thought it might be a good idea to slip in a more recent album. I am a bird now, is outstanding. quite simply this man moves me to tears. His voice is sublime, pure genius. I knew the very first time I played this, it was special. words cannot describe the beauty and the mellancoly which is present throughout this great album. You will find yourself singing along to the melodies. Days, weeks later, with the sound of Anthonys voice imprinted into your subconcious.
ETERNALLY YOURS...HA HA HA....THE SAINTS
One of my favourite bands, THE SAINTS. Aussie garage rock at its finest. I remember hearing, Im stranded at THE ELECTRIC CIRCUS in Manchester in 1977. The sheer power of that debut single was overwhelming. I bought the first album and still love it, but I remember going to see them at RAFTERS a crappy little club in Manchester. They were supported by WAYNE COUNTY AND THE ELECTRIC CHAIRS. It was quite weird gig, there were PUNKS and ROCKABILLY thingamabobs. the atmosphere was electric. THE SAINTS were touring their 2nd album ETERNALLY YOURS. The lead single was THIS PERFECT DAY, This highlights the best of the SAINTS. Im just soooo happy I was there that magical night. The album is a perfect memento. If you want to dip your toe into all that Australia music can offer, theres more. THE MOODISTS . THE BIRTHDAY PARTY. Are two more I can recommend.

"I'M FRIGHTENED AND I WANNA GO HOME"
One Autumn night in 1977 a young me, 18 year old boy, went to a gig at a local club "Hazel Grove Youth Club" and saw an unknown band as was, "The Fall". I remember being blown away by the performance, but in particular by Mark E Smith.
It inspired me to go home, I removed a picture from the Beatles - White Album and on the back of the John Lennon picture, I wrote down a load of random sentences and posted it to the address on the back of The Fall Album, "Live at the Witch trials", which I had just bought at the gig.
To my joy I received a great letter from Mark E Smith and a load of memorabilia about the Fall and I remember him saying "there's a lot of mad people in Stockport", to which I thought, nice one and I'm glad I'm one of them.
What a band, what a debut album and how nice they took the time to respond to a mad man from Manchester.
EASY GUITAR LESSONS FROM A MASTER
Hi guys I thought I would put this link in, for anybody who wants to learn, how to play the guitar. I know some of you probably know of MARTY SCHWARTZ of YOU TUBE fame. But for those of you who dont. Go and watch his videos on YOU TUBE. I came across him one day, and subscribed to his services and he sent me loads of emails, with really good lessons in them. He is an excellent teacher and the videos are of a good quality. best of all they are FREE. Learning how to play guitar is not easy, but with a good teacher, it is easier. The best advice I can give anyone wanting to learn, is be patience, and practise every day if possible. also a good quality instrument is a must
ENTERTAINMENT- THE GANG OF FOUR 1979
This still blows away the cobwebs. Copied by lesser chancers hoping to hang on to one of POST PuNkS innovators, and failing quite miserably. the vocals bite, the guitars rock, the drums and bass, well Sly and Robbie eat your heart out boys. FLEA out of RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS loves this album. I mean who couldnt love an album with DAMAGED GOODS on it. I recently saw them on tv and even now they are brilliant. In 1979 when this came out it sounded very angry and abrasive, I can assure you it still does. thank christ. book your copy today and annoy your neighbours. they will love the throbbing BASS,

CLOCK DVA its not a disease
I bought this album CLOCK DVA THIRST when it first came out and I love it. This is much better than the Human league it is almost like Miles Davis its so funky. I also bought it again when it became available on CD unfortunately its a bit on the expensive side at the moment, but well worth keeping an eye out at car boot sales etc. This was the debut album and its great. Its got the single 4hours on it. THIS IS A GREAT ALBUM worth buying for investment and before you ask thats not my copy on amazon. I could not bear to part with mine...............................
EXILE ON MAIN STREET
This has been around along time now 1972 to be precise. It is loved by both fans and critics of the ROLLING STONES and with good reason. Its actually better to listen to on cd it flows and you dont have to get up and change discs which can ruin the mood somewhat. I love this album for many reasons. When friends slag off the STONES I play them EXILE ON MAIN STREET and 9 times out of ten they are usually blown away. Its just so damn funky you can dance, smooch, whatever takes your fancy and your toes just wont be able to stop tapping. The only shame is THE ROLLING STONES never scaled these heights again 10/10

POST PUNK MASTERCLASS
I know everybody thinks they are an expert on music. In fact they are providing they have two ears. So what gives me the right to write about POST PUNK....Well I was there, I saw the good the bad and the downright nasty. Much of this music has stayed with me throughout my life. I still listen to JOY DIVISION in fact I would go as far to say they were the best POST PUNK group of the era. They only did two albums, I can here you say thats not enough, but the truth is they were perfect for their time. the first album. UNKNOWN PLEASURES is the perfect soundtrack to driving through the crumbling northern cities of the late 1970s. The production was excellent, as was the sleeve to the original LP. I used to listen to to it on my sony walkman(cutting edge back then) every day on my way to work on the train through manchester. It seemed very surreal sat in isolation in a crowded train, speeding through the decay of a once proud city, reduced to ruins there was dark satanic mills falling down everywhere. Yeah I really enjoyed going to work back then. If you dont have this wonderful album buy it...steal it...just get youre hands on it and enjoy it. 10/10

D'Addario EJ16 Phosphor Bronze Light Acoustic Guitar Strings
easy to use and a great sound and I mean that from the bottom of my heart folks
Bob Dylan his part in my downfall
One day whilst driving home, after a long shift. I had the radio on and inbetween the usual dross, A Bob Dylan song came on. Just like a woman, and I found myself singing along in my out of tune way my family and friends have come to love. Now at this particular time I was not a fan. If anything I thought he was boring, but I dont know why but I suddenly got it. DING I drove to my local junk shop and bought a secondhand accoustic guitar. I didnt know how play, but figured I could learn. So armed with guitar and some new guitar strings I set off home. Now this brings together two of my favourite things. I kept the guitar for about 3 months till I went and bought my first real guitar. A Yamaha 310 accoustic, a guitar I would recomend to any aspiring guitarist. its so easy to play and sounds really great. About this time I got into Bob Dylan in a big way I bought quite a few of his albums.
